Assistance And Resources For A Victim Of Domestic Violence

Recently a member of my Face book network reached out with question about how to help her sister that is a victim of domestic violence, below is her question and my answer. Question: Do you have any suggestions or resources I could look into regarding an adult sister who just admitted that her boyfriend, who lives with her, has beaten her up a few times? I am wondering if I should insert myself into that situation, or just stand back and let the drama unfold? Maybe at least do some research?” There are numerous websites and articles on domestic violence you can Google anytime. A Graceful transition: Emotional Loss of a Loved One due to Alzheimer’s

Once your loved one is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or Dementia your most immediate response is to become educated on the medical prognosis, behavioral symptoms, and medication. However, what is most often overlooked is the emotional transition that you will go through as you watch helplessly as your loved one transitions from mom, dad, spouse, sister, brother, grandparent or friend to a state of disorientation, helplessness, agitation and worst of all a child like persona that is no longer the person you once knew.

Questions from Twitter: Reincarnation in Psychology and How to Love Yourself

“What are your thoughts on integrating reincarnation into psychology?”

There are many theoretical approaches to psychology. I do not know enough on the subject of reincarnation and how it would benefit the client to know about their alleged past lives. It would be unethical of me to give an opinion not in my area of expertise. However, there are on-going discussions within spirituality and mental health professionals regarding the relevance and ethical consideration of integrating the two.
