Politicians Are US?
Why is it that we seem so surprised when politicians have affairs? Because politicians are a reflection of our nation’s moral compass.
Politicians do, whether we like it or not, represent what is happening in the bedrooms and hotels rooms across America. If you don’t believe that extramarital relationships are pervasive, just check out websites that have been created to facilitate relationships outside of committed relationships.
Should marriage vows include the disclaimers: “I promise to love you and when my love, affection or sexual interest in you changes you will be the first to know”, and “should I have an affair, you will not divorce me because it’s more than likely we will both be unfaithful at sometime in the marriage.”
Is it realistic to believe the person you married in your twenties has changed to become the person you would choose to be your romantic companion in your thirties, forties, or fifties? Has it come time to define marriage based upon the reality of the times and differences in personality?
Finally, is it possible to have agreed upon sex outside of a marriage and still maintain emotional commitment to one another? Or are we fearful that to acknowledge the complexity of the human condition will lead to immorality and anarchy? It is possible that in not facing the frailty of the human condition? Perhaps we are keeping our heads in the sand.

Dr. Leslie, Your Blog is profound. You brilliantly point out the human condition and stand and stand as the interlocutor, cleanly in the middle, openly suggesting both sides be honest and look at reality. Ah, the vainness, the frailty, the foolishness of mankind. We figure how to get a finite machine onto the face of Mars but we can’t get our own head on straight! Especially me!
Rock ON, Leslie!
